Chances are, we’ve all travelled at least once in our lifetime, whether it’s for business, pleasure, or something else. Perhaps, we can say, making travel plans is becoming a lot easier nowadays with the internet making it possible for anyone to buy plane tickets, book a hotel, and make travel event reservations all without having to leave our comfort zones. Although we may realize that it’s more costly to transact online, we probably think very little about the price difference, because we believe it’s a small price to pay for the convenience we experience.
Indeed, we can see that consumers are benefiting from the services offered by Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). Imagine, all it takes are a few mouse clicks to get them to a website where they can compare hotel prices and book hotel rooms right there and then. Unfortunately, this kind of convenience and this kind of service do pose some negative implications that many of us may not be aware of. For one thing, these are costing hotels a lot more, so to reduce the impact on their profitability, hotels pass the additional expense to the consumers. GoEureka is a travel tech company that is developing a blockchain-based hotel booking platform. GoEureka, or simply Go, knows that the current online booking system is far from perfect. The consumers having to pay more than what’s necessary is one proof that, indeed, inefficiencies exist in the online booking system. Thus, Go’s ultimate solution is to decentralize the system, and that means putting the hotel booking business on a blockchain. Go believes this will get rid of 3rd party influences, cut short the process, and enhance security of data and financial transactions. With the Go blockchain-based platform, Online Travel Agents (OTAs) will no longer rake in huge profits for themselves, hotels will no longer have to pay huge commissions to OTAs and sacrifice their profitability in the process, nor will they have to pass on the expense to consumers, and consumers will no longer have to bear the high cost of booking online. Moreover, hotels will be able to connect directly to the consumers, thus enabling them to create a relationship at a deeper level.
The hotel booking platform that Go will build will consist of a website to handle bookings and payments, a mobile app where customers and hotels can communicate with one another, and a database that will store the data. The Go platform will be commission-free. This means to say, hotels can list rooms and services as they normally do in OTA platforms, but this time, without a commission obligation. Hotels, therefore, will get to keep all the profits, thereby increasing their profit margin, and allowing them to offer better deals to their customers.
Meanwhile, the Go platform will allow consumers to make a search of hotels, make their bookings and manage them. They will be able to communicate with the hotels directly, and hotels will be able to respond to their concerns. The Go website will also have the capability to integrate hotel inventory, loyalty programs, hotel freebies and promos, something that consumers are missing out on. Go will come with a Re-Booking feature, as well, and this will be discussed more later.

Go will provide access to 170,000 hotels all over the world, and will encourage cryptocurrency adoption by allowing the use of cryptocurrencies when making a transaction over the platform.
A major feature of Go will be its special Re-booking Feature that automatically re-books bookings at no cost to the consumers so as to let them take advantage of the lowest possible price. This feature will be incredibly beneficial to consumers looking for the best travel deals. Price changes happen so frequently that many end up regretting their decision to book at an earlier time, but with Go’s Rebooking Feature, the consumers’ payment will be automatically adjusted, and the price difference credited back to their accounts. So there will be no blaming of self for having re-booked earlier, and no regrets whatsover.
To avail themselves of this feature, consumers will have to take their search for hotels to the Go platform. The platform will have all the information they need - booking rates, services, loyalty programs, and so on. Consumers will then make their booking, and the transaction will be recorded on the blockchain. In case of price drops, Go will automatically rebook the booking at no extra cost to the consumer, notify the consumer and consequently credit the price difference back to the consumer’s account.
There are many other interesting and exciting features to watch out for, just like the capability to track loyalty points and events near the consumer’s location, allowing the consumer to make the most of his or her trip. The app will also provide access to the hotel room, thus addressing privacy and lost keys issues, and will come with a chat feature so consumers can communicate their requests to the concierge right away. A Virtual Travel Assistant will also be in the works later on.
As mentioned earlier, the Go platform will run on a blockchain, and communication between them (the platform and the blockchain) will be done via smart contract. The smart contract will cause the generation of GOT tokens that will drive the platform to its mission. GOTs will be primarily used to pay for room accomodation, hotel services, and other products and services. Investors who participate in the token sale may use their GOTs on the Go platform or trade them.
